PIONEERING WHERE YOU ARE
[edit]Attention, Believers!
[edit]Every believer will bring one other person the Cause this year¹. Of the thousands you pass each week, who will be the one you bring? Have you begun to find him? Your foremost opportunity is through personal contact. GIVE MANY THE OPPORTUNITY AND LET GOD CHOOSE. There is no substitute for teaching by direct contact!
1. Speak of the Faith to someone new every day. 2. Your field of service:
- In every restaurant and office.
- On every bus, train, airplane, and boat.
- In every hotel and lodging house.
- On every street.
- In every house.
3. Carry a few, very few, pamphlets; too many frighten people. And carry a pocket-sized prayer book. 4. Go calling on shut-ins. Invite others for a cup of tea. 5. If you are a bit timid, choose a partner. 6. Build bridges. Talk first about the other person’s interests. Avoid controversy. Regularly read a good current event magazine. 7. Don’t overload your contact. One pamphlet read is worth six in the waste basket. 8. Listen sympathetically. 9. Stop while your contact is hungry for more. 10. In lending books, mark some special part to be read; call and ask how he liked it. Never leave a book more than a week or two. 11. For those who cannot attend classes, give lessons at home!
Warning from a Pioneer Youth:
[edit]Let’s avoid:
| Condescension. | Personal offense. |
| Argument. | Negative conversations. |
| Taking the center of the stage. | Or even talking too much! |
Spiritual Attraction
[edit]Radiate faith and happiness. The Bahá’í life is the first attractor. Gleanings, foot of p. 7. Bahá’í World Faith, p. 385. Portals to Freedom, pp. 95-96, 116, 119-120, 125-126.
Do you pray and meditate and do it the first thing daily? The effect is tremendous. Stop and read Gleanings, p. 295. Fifteen minutes of prayer may save you many hours of fumbling!
Our Guardian’s directives to you. (Advent of Divine Justice, p. 43)
[edit]Survey your city, contact and associate with:
| Cultural Organizations. | Interracial Organizations. |
| Humanitarian Organizations. | Civic Organizations. |
| Educational Organizations. | Charitable Organizations. |
A SUGGESTED MINIMUM FOR THE INDIVIDUAL BELIEVER
[edit]1. Daily prayer for attraction. 2. A pamphlet or a word about the Faith to someone every day. 3. Entertainment of someone once every Bahá’í month. 4. Personal responsibility to bring one new enquirer to every public meeting. 5. Contact of three organizations during the year.
