SPECIAL BULLETIN #2
BAHÁ’Í WORLD CONGRESS[edit]
London, England[edit]
April 28, 29, 30, May 1, 2, 1963[edit]
The National Spiritual Assembly is happy to transmit to the friends the following further information received from the National Congress Arrangements Committee:
1. TRANSPORTATION:[edit]
PLANE: In the process of finalizing the contract for chartered flights on KLM, the Committee announces a slight decrease in the round trip rates to London from the four departure points in the United States. The firm rates based on the 1962 current tariff are:
New York-London-New York $195.00 per person
Chicago-London-Chicago ....$252.00 per person
- Houston-London-Houston ....$268.00 per person
- If flights are executed on the days that KLM operates a Houston service — otherwise $335.00 per person.
Los Angeles-London-Los Angeles .............$427.50 per person
The charter flights will be definitely scheduled as soon as the Committee has received the Questionnaires from all the friends intending to use this suggested means of transportation to London and is able to work out the dates which will be most suitable to the greatest number of people.
STEAMSHIP: Since comparatively few people plan to travel by ship, and no group arrangements with reduced fares can be made, the National Spiritual Assembly advises all those wishing to travel by steamer to consult a good, reliable, local travel agent.
2. LONDON ACCOMMODATIONS:[edit]
The National Spiritual Assembly will transmit promptly, through a future Bulletin, all information regarding the accommodations in London as soon as this data is received. Full directives will be given on how to reserve the desired accommodations, hotel or rooms in private homes. The National Spiritual Assembly urges everyone who plans, even though tentatively, to attend the Bahá’í World Congress in London to send in as quickly as possible the Questionnaire carried at the end of Bulletin #1 (March issue Bahá’í News). It is imperative that the National Spiritual Assembly have some estimate as soon as possible of the number of the friends intending to go to the Congress and the proportion of these who will wish to travel by chartered plane and join one of the Tours being offered.
3. TOURS:[edit]
The tours which will be operated by the Overseas Travel Company, officially appointed by the National Spiritual Assembly to carry out these travel arrangements, will also be scheduled to suit the greatest number of the friends.
