JOSE MINGOMNCE FERNANDEZ
1920—1986
José Mingorance Fernandez was born in Granada, Spain, on 12 March 1920. At the age of 20, he married Carmen Tost Xifre, and in 1950, he and his family moved to the Principality of Andorra.
On 7 October 1953, Mr. William Danjon arrived in Andorra from Copenhagen, Denmark, in fulfilment of one of the goals of the National Spiritual Assembly of the United States during the T en Year World Crusade. In March 1954, the first series of Visits by Miss Virginia Orbison to Andorra took place. On 26 July 1954, the Mingoranee couple declared their faith in Baha’u’llah, becoming the first believers of Andorra. Miss Orbison was present for this event.
In the spring of 1957, Mr. Mingorance and his family moved to Santiago, Chile, where they remained until 1969, a period during which both he and his family carried out many activities as Bahá’ís.
In 1969, they returned to Andorra, where they resumed their Bahá’í activities. The first Local Spiritual Assembly of Andorra was formed on 18 August 1974, after the declaration of faith by their three children and their daughter-in—law.
Mr. Mingorance remained a member of the Local Spiritual Assembly of Andorra until his last days.
In his professional life, he filled a position of great responsibility in a bank in the Principahty, where he had the complete trust of his superiors.
A kind, happy, and jovial character, Mr. Mingorance was a very spiritual person, concerned about deepening in the Bahá’í

teachings, and very capable and precise in replying to the questions and doubts of the seekers. He was a firm pillar of the Faith in Andorra.
On 11 July 1986, he passed away in Tarragona where he had gone for a short holiday. He leaves his wife and three children, all Bahá’ís, and the Faith firmly rooted in Andorra.
