Guide for Administrators Users |
A. Monitoring user contributions[edit]
Special:RecentChanges should be actively monitored. Certain apps—any supporting Atom/RSS feed reading—like Flym for Android can monitor and notify you when a change is made to the wiki. The Atom URL to provide to the application for such monitoring is [1]. Other lists, such as one's watchlist, or user contributions, have their own Atom/RSS feeds (available under the Tools menu at the bottom right of the page), but only the Recent Changes feed will notify for all changes to the site.
B. Identifying vandalism[edit]
Vandalism is uncommon but does happen occasionally. Vandalism can be detected because it is either explicit or the user demonstrates subject matter ignorance. An example edit from the latter category would be a user making seemingly helpful contributions like correcting obvious spelling errors. However, these individuals lack the domain knowledge to proofread Bahá’í documents, and will make "corrections" that are actually mistakes that editors familiar with the Bahá’í Faith would not make. Use caution because these individuals may be attempting to build up enough edits to have their accounts reach a 'confirmed' status, so they can perform more harmful vandalism. It's advised to ban these users before that happens. If you really end up banning a legitimate user by accident, don't worry; they will usually email to get in touch, and you can talk with them.
