Template:Search/doc

The {{search}} template places a search box on a page and by default adds a prefix to the user's search term that tells the software to only search through all subpages of the page where it was placed. The intended use is on pages where collections of documents are stored on subpages, like at Bahá’í News or any other periodical or book page, and to allow users to only search through that single collection of documents or that single book.

Changing the search target

In cases where content pages are not stored as a subpage of the top level page for a work you can add a custom prefix to target the correct pages.

{{search |prefix=Some_Other_Base_Page }}

Examples

At Messages from the Universal House of Justice, 1986-2001 the content pages are stored under the prefix MUHJ86-01 because otherwise the page titles would be excessively long. To add a search box in that case you would use {{search |prefix=MUHJ86-01 }}
