About the Contributors

Rodrigo Carazo, distinguished statesman, educator, and politician, served as President of Costa Rica from 1978–1982. An advocate of global peace, he was the original proponent to the United Nations of a University for Peace, which was established in 1980. He now serves as the President of that institution.

Hossain Danesh currently serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Association for Bahá’í Studies and Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Bahá’í International Health Agency. A psychiatrist by profession, he was, until his recent election as General Secretary of the Bahá’í Community of Canada, associate professor of psychiatry and social medicine at the University of Ottawa.

Johan Galtung is currently a professor of world politics of peace and war at Princeton University. His distinguished academic career has seen him teach at over fifty institutions of higher learning in various parts of the world, and he has authored a large number of books and articles in his field.

Ervin Laszlo, member of the Club of Rome, has served as director for the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and has most recently acted as an editor in chief of the World Encyclopedia of Peace published by Pergamon Press. He is an accomplished classical musician, editor of numerous scholarly journals, member of the advisory council of world-minded organizations such as Planetary Citizens, and has authored over thirty books throughout his distinguished and varied career.
