“Living the Bahá’í Faith” Theme of Davison Summer School Session[edit]
The 1958 Summer Session of the Davison Bahá’í School will open on July 7 with a two-week study course for Junior Youth (ages 10-14). Four weeks of family sessions will begin on July 21st, and a two-week session for Senior Youth (ages 15 and up) will start on August 18th.
As is customary, the school will close after the special program planned for the Labor Day “Homecoming Weekend.” Public meetings at which Bahá’í speakers will present the Faith are scheduled for 3 p.m. each Sunday afternoon while the School is open. Concentrated weekend courses have also been scheduled to provide study opportunity for those not able to spend an entire week at the school.
The general theme this year is “Living the Bahá’í Faith,” and in agreement with this theme, a class in “Bahá’í Standards of Conduct” will offer Bahá’í history, Bahá’í literature, spiritual deepening, and methods for teaching the Faith. Bahá’í teachers from many parts of the country will be present to conduct classes on such subjects as “The Ancient Faith of God,” “Bahá’ís in a Christian Culture,” “Pattern of Future Society,” and others.
Counsellors are provided for youth sessions, and special children’s teachers will hold classes for younger children who attend with their parents during family sessions.
Printed programs detailing classes and giving other information may be obtained from the Registrar. In order to assure reservations convenient to personal vacation schedules, etc., Bahá’ís and their friends are advised to register as soon as possible by writing: The Registrar, Davison Bahá’í School, 3208 State Road, Davison, Mich.
Green Acre Bahá’í School to Study Writings of Bahá’u’lláh, Guardian[edit]
The 1958 Green Acre Bahá’í School program is centered around the theme that our most appropriate tribute to Shoghi Effendi is a living rededication to his spirit, his work, and his plan.
In addition to study of the major books of Bahá’u’lláh and deepening courses in such works of the Guardian as The Advent of Divine Justice, The Promised Day is Come, and God Passes By, there will be advance study seminars for those mature Bahá’ís who wish to study some of the Writings more intensely. The Íqán, Gleanings, and The Seven Valleys will be the subjects of these seminars.
There will also be small workshops in Bahá’í history and the relationship of the Bahá’í writings to those of other great religions.
A course in the fundamentals of the Faith will be given weekly for inquirers and new believers. A children’s school and recreational activities for youth are also included in the program.
Weekend programs will feature pioneer reports and a graphic presentation of the progress of the World Crusade.
Green Acre will open for registration on Saturday, June 28, and the courses will begin on Monday, June 30. The School will continue for eight weeks, ending in Youth Week, August 18-23.
For reservations write: Mrs. Irene Miniutti, Green Acre Bahá’í Institute, Eliot, Maine. (Telephone: Kittery—Idlewood 9-0019)
