Laws of Bahá’í Marriage

Are Not Optional

The beloved Guardian repeatedly made it clear that compliance with the laws of Bahá’í marriage is not optional, and be instructed the National Spiritual Assembly to revoke the Bahá’í membership and Voting rights of any Bahá’í who violates these laws.

The matter of primary importance is that a Bahá’í, whether marrying another Bahá’í or a non-Bahá’í, must provide evidence of the prior consent to the marriage of all living parents. The Baha/i Community contains further information on the subject.

Friends contemplating marriage are advised to consult with their nearest local spiritual assembly to make sure they are fulfilling all the laws and requirements concerning Bahá’í marriage and to arrange with the assembly for performance of the marriage ceremony. The assembly doing so is expected to enter into its minutes both a record of the consent of parents and the performance of the marriage and to report the marriage promptly to the National Spiritual Assembly.

British Bahá’í Books Available in U.S.

By an arrangement with the Publishing Trust of the

British Isles, the Publishing Trust of the U.S. carries a majority of British titles in Wilmette and issues a price list on items available. A few titles, such as those which duplicate American titles, as well as a few which are presently pending some revisions, are not distributed in the U.S.

The Publishing Trust of the British Isles has stated that their facilities have been overburdened with requests for literature from the U.S. as they do not have the personnel to reply to these inquiries. They ask that those responsible for placing literature orders in the U.S. send their orders to the Publishing Trust in Wilmette, as has been done in the past.
