Ebony Publishes

Article on Faith

“Bahá’í: A Way of Life for Millions” proclaims the title of a major article on the Bahá’í Faith published in the April edition of EBONY magazine. Written by Lerone Bennett Jr., the article reveals a perceptive look at the Bahá’í world community, together with beautiful illustrations of Bahá’ís at worship, work and play.

Planned for many months, the article shows the excellent result of gathering pictures from around the world and blending them into a sensitive essay on the history, teachings and future of the Faith. Beginning with color pictures of the Bahá’í youth and the Bahá’í World Congress in London, in 1963, the article delineates the day-to-day application of Bahá’u’lláh’s teachings on the oneness of mankind and of religion.

The history of the article dates back to an interview in March 1963 with Mr. Amoz Gibson, now serving as a member of the Universal House of Justice. At that time, Mr. Gibson mentioned his intention of pioneering to Africa following the Congress. When the reporter later learned of Mr. Gibson’s election to the Universal House of Justice and move to Haifa, Israel, he expressed interest in the Bahá’í story.

This victory in the proclamation of the Faith of Bahá’u’lláh to the masses comes as the first year of the Nine Year Plan is drawing to a close, and points to still greater success for the army of Bahá’u’lláh in the coming year.

Permission Must Be Sought to Visit Iran

Any American Bahá’í wishing to visit Iran following a pilgrimage to the Bahá’í World Center or at any other time should first ask permission through the National Spiritual Assembly of the United States and at the same time inform the National Assembly of Iran of his wish. Both National Assemblies will submit their views to the Universal House of Justice as to whether the visit is advisable.
