Star of the West
Star of the West was a U.S. Bahá’í newsletter published between 1910 and 1935. It was one of the only ways for the western friends to receive Tablets and news about the Bahá’í Faith at that time and contains many translations of Tablets and communications which have to date not been published elsewhere. The first volume of Star of the West was published under the title of Bahai News.

For clarity on the title changes, see: Baha'i News (disambiguation)

See also the precursor to Star of the West, The Bahai Bulletin. For the successor to Star of the West (along with World Unity), see World Order.[1]

For a listing of contents as below but leading directly to the text copy, see Star of the West text.

Note that the Archives Department confirmed that volumes 1-8 and 15 do not have indexes even though volumes 9 (and 16-25) do and confirmed that we are not missing a page (out of the usual 32 pages) in the 31-page long vol. 25, issues 3 and 11.

The Persian sections (titled “Najm-i-Bák̲h̲tar”) have been transferred from documents representing the typed text of these issues. The text was typed by Behrooz Ghaemmaghami with assistance from Omid Ghaemmaghami. If anyone wishes to work on a project of publishing the Persian pages in a separate volume, feel free to contact Omid at omid@binghamton.edu .

We could use help on the following:

  • Proofreading
  • Scanning (and Proofreading)
    • Front and back matter within volumes 1-21.
    • A re-scan, and corresponding proofreading, of the Japanese transcription is desired for Volume 12, Issue 2, pp. 42-43 (see pages 10-11 on PDF). Our copy and the scanning of even the kind Bahá'í Archives office in the U.S. is not of sufficient quality for the tiny, old-style text to be clear to proofreaders.

    • Cropping and uploading of images for embedding in HTML
